There’s a good chance the Miss World Winner will emerge from Beach Beauty Finalists. During the past years, eventual Miss World winners all ranked high in the Beach Beauty competition. The Beach Beauty fast-track was created in 2003 as part of Miss World’s new format.
This year’s competition officially started by reducing the 115 beauties to a lucky group of 40, who will try to become this year’s first semi-finalist in the Beach Beauty fast-track competition, on Saturday. Auditions for the talent show are also coming up soon, and do not forget the other three qualifying awards at stake: Top Model, Sports Woman and Beauty with a Purpose.
Meanwhile, how did recent winners of the Miss World crown fare in this Beach Beauty fast-track? Let’s take a look:
Gibraltar's Kaiane Aldorino won the Beach Beauty Fast Track in 2009
Russia's Ksenia Sukhinova (right) was 1st runner-up in 2008
China's Zi Lin Zhang (right) was 2nd runner-up in 2007
Czech Republic's Tatana Kucharova (2nd, left) was 1st runner-up in 2006
Iceland's Unnur Birna (2nd, right) was 3rd runner-up in 2005
2004 was the exception; Peru's Maju Mantilla did not reach the BB semi-finals
Ireland's Rosanna Davison (center) walked away with both the MW crown and BB title in 2003.
