Road to Miss America 2014:
Bindhu Parmathi was crowned Miss District of Columbia 2013 at the end of the pageant held on Sunday night of June 9, 2013 at Mead Center in Washington, D.C. She will now represent the District of Columbia at the Miss America 2014 pageant, scheduled to take place at Atlantic City in September.

Bindhu, 23, is a law student at a Georgetown University!
Bindhu’s platform is Tolerance Upside-down: Intolerance for Blind Consumerism.
As her talent, Parmathi performed a Bollywood dance to the song “Stereo Love”.
Bindhu Parmathi was crowned Miss District of Columbia 2013.

– Myrna Farmer, US State Department Office of Protocol
– Craig Helsing, former Vice President of BMW
– Tina Sauerhammer, Children’s National Medical Center
– Michael Steele, former RNC Chairman and MSNBC Contributor
The Miss DC Pageant is a preliminary competition whose purpose is to select the young women (Miss DC & Miss DC’s Outstanding Teen) who will represent the District of Columbia in the upcoming Miss America and Miss America’s Outstanding Teen competitions.
The women compete on stage in 4 phases of competition with talent, the most significant portion of the competition, accounting for 35% of the total score.
An emphasis on education, talent and the performing arts is what distinguishes the Miss America program from other pageants. In addition, the young lady and top 5 finalists are awarded a scholarship from the Miss DC Scholarship Organization.
