Miss Jamzone International 2013 winners
Since its inception in 2000, the Miss Jamzone pageant which features as part of the annual Jamzone Summer Break festival, has maintained an indisputable reputation as the most prolific pageant in Guyana. This unique beauty pageant pioneered by the Hits and Jams Entertainment Team, seeks to promote tourism and has more recently adapted the theme of ‘Promoting social and cultural cohesion in the Caribbean through pageantry’.
The standards of this event has progressed veritably with each passing year including the incentives which have evolved from $40,000GYD to a scooter, a car and presently $10,000USD! In 2010, after ten years of remaining local, the organizers decided to change the pageant’s format and included the Miss Jamzone International Pageant, which saw the winner of the local leg competing against several other delegates from around the Caribbean. The decision initially received mixed reviews from the Guyanese public, however after the first staging of the Miss Jamzone International pageant it was evident that the committee had made the right choice in pioneering this venture. The first Jamzone International pageant saw participation from eight Caribbean countries including Trinidad and Tobago, The Dominican Republic, Barbados, St Lucia, Antigua, Suriname, Jamaica and Guyana.
