Carly Mathis was crowned the title of Miss Georgia 2013 at the end of the state’s pageant held on Saturday night of June 22, 2013 at the River Center for Performing Arts in Columbus. She will represent the state of Georgia at the upcoming Miss America 2014 pageant to be held this September in Atlantic City.

At the time of being crowned, Carly Mathis is the reigning Miss Atlanta 2013. Last year, she competed at Miss Georgia 2012 as Miss Georgia Cotton and won the first runner-up.
Her pageant platform: Heart Health and Heart Safety.
Carly will represent Georgia at the Miss America 2014 pageant.
Miss Georgia 2013 Carly Mathis bio:
Carly is a native of Leesburg, Georgia and is the daughter of Billy and Wendy Mathis. She is currently a senior at the University of Georgia’s Grady School of Journalism majoring in Digital and Broadcast News with plans to attend law school. She is a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. Carly is an advocate for the American Heart Association and Project S.A.V.E. by promoting heart health and heart safety. It is her desire to see CPR training and AED availability in every high school in the state of Georgia. As a child who struggled with self-esteem issues, Carly most loves encouraging elementary and middle school girls to embrace their inner beauty while encouraging them to become active and follow a heart healthy lifestyle. She also enjoys volunteering with the Children’s Miracle Network and spending time with CMN hospital patients and therapy clients. As a vocalist Carly has had the opportunity to sing at many state and local events. She has been involved with the Miss America Organization since she was 13 and was Miss Albany’s Outstanding Teen in 2008. Carly served as Miss Historic Southern Plains 2011 and was selected as a Top 12 finalist at the 2011 Miss Georgia Pageant. She competed in the 2012 Miss Georgia Pageant as Miss Georgia Cotton and was thrilled to be selected as first runner-up and the overall talent winner. She was also awarded the S. Davis Laney Scholarship for Legal Studies. Most recently Carly was crowned Miss Atlanta 2013 and was chosen as the swimsuit winner at the pageant.
With the title, Carly Mathis wins a $15,000 scholarship.
The first runner up was Miss Conyers Cherry Blossom, Lauren F. Edmunds, 24, of Americus, Ga.. She wins a $7,500 scholarship.
The second runner-up was Miss South Central Georgia, Courtney J. Walker, 22, of Bonaire, Ga.. She wins a $5,000 scholarship.
The third runner up was Miss Cobb County, Maggie Bridges, 20, of Brinson, Ga.. She wins a $3,500 scholarship.
The fourth runner up was Miss Golden Isles, Carmella M. Turner, 23, of Baxley, Ga. She wins a $2,500 scholarship.
Winners in the Outstanding Teen competition are: 4th Runner up Capital City’s OT, 3rd Runner up Cherokee Rose’s OT, 2nd Runner up Greater Atlanta’s OT, 1st Runner up Atlanta’s’ OT and the 2013 Miss Georgia’s Outstanding Teen is Miss Marietta’s Outstanding Teen!!!!
