Jacqueline Steenbeek biography:
I am a graduate of the University of Midwifery Maastricht. My heart is in Obstetrics, “the birth of new life!” How often the most special moment of your life is called. I love to help and support people. In this appeal, I experience much appreciation and every birth remains a special moment. As a midwife in training I find herein the challenge and variety, which I find very important in life!
Besides my studies, I enjoy spending time with my dear friends! I like them with tennis, shopping, chatting, laughing, to step …
I am very happy with the friends I have, they are always there for me and are a great support for me. They are friends for life!
I also love sports! This gives me peace and here I come to myself. Hence I every week tennis, fitness and running. This train has fortunately paid off … on 1 April, namely the half marathon, I anticipated in one hour and 57 minutes!
As Miss North Brabant I also ambassador Dreams4kids, a foundation that ensures every child the love and attention, which every child should get! I also hope the midwifery care in the Netherlands under the spotlight and make a positive contribution to the midwifery care in developing countries.
There is currently a lot of commotion about Midwifery Care in the Netherlands because the Netherlands is one of the few countries where a unique obstetric care system exists. People could affect choose whether they want to give birth at home and most pleases without analgesia. Look at health care in America, where it pleases everyone in the hospital and you need time to indicate that you do not want an epidural, because before you know it you have already received the analgesia. The question is in the Netherlands is therefore: Is our care have the best care in midwifery can be delivered? Among the experts is much debate about this, and everyone has their own view of this. However, it can be expected that in the course of the years, a change will occur. Hopefully this will not adversely affect the health outcomes of mother and child and the choices for both home birth and give birth without pain relief. I would like visions and ideas about midwifery care professionals to share with society.
Additionally still die every day mothers and newborns to unnecessary complications. Worldwide die alone 1000 mothers per day including poor accessibility, poor precaution, poor hygiene or untreated diseases like HIV. Every death is one too many! What I would like to put in for these pregnant women. They too deserve a fair and healthy future, where every pregnant woman on earth entitled! Hopefully I get this chance if I Miss Noord Brabant 2012 should be!
Therefore, I enjoy every chance I get!
