Petrosh, a vocalist, performed “Battle Hymn of the Republic” for the talent portion of this year’s pageant.
Petrosh’s platform: volunteerism and the importance of community service. “They asked me a lot about that,” she said. “I’m very active in volunteering. There was a seed planted in me at an early age because I come from a very service-oriented family. It’s not just something I do, it’s who I am.”
One of Petrosh’s favorite volunteer activities is visiting school children. “I like to read ‘The Giving Tree’ to children because it’s a great story that teaches them the important values of giving back,” she said.
The first runner-up was Kaitlyn Schoeffel of Egg Harbor Township, who won a $4,000 scholarship. Second runner-up went to Courtney Charatsaris of Totowa, who took home a $3,000 scholarship.
