Mariah Cook Won Miss Nebraska 2012 Tittle

Mariah Cook, Miss State Fair, was crowned Miss Nebraska 2012 on June 9, 2012 at the North Platte High School Performing Arts Center. She will represent Nebraska in Miss America 2013 Pageant to be held in January 2013 in Las Vegas. Her pageant talent is as a pianist and her platform is “The Power of Adoption.” Mariah is a student at Chadron State College. Her ambition is to become a school teacher.

After winning the preliminary talent competition earlier, Cook was named the overall winner in the interview portion of the competition. “Growing up, I never felt like I fit in,” Cook told the judges. “I was too tall, too loud and adopted.” Participation in the Miss Nebraska program has helped with confidence and self-esteem, she said.
The first runner-up was Mindy Schreiber. The second runner-up was Rachel Foehlinger. The third runner-up was Meghan Thalken. The fourth runner-up was Katrina Poppert.
Lianna Prill was crowned Miss Nebraska’s Outstanding Teen 2012.
