The grand final of Miss Ireland 2013 will be held on July 20th, 2013 at the Ballsbridge Hotel in Dublin. More than 20 local beauty queens will be vying for the title. Reigning title holder Rebecca Maguire will pass the crown to her successor at the end of the event. The winner will represent the country at the upcoming Miss World 2013 pageant in Indonesia.
Aoife Walsh Crowned Miss Ireland 2013
This year is the 66th editions of the annual pageant. The launch of the pageant was held at Dublin nightclub Buck Whaley’s on July 3rd, 2013 with the attendance of all Miss Ireland hopefuls and special guests: former Miss Irelands, Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model contestant Holly Carpenter, Emma Waldron, Rosanna Davison and tv presenter Pamela Flood.
Also in attendance were the reigning title holder Rebecca Maguire, 1991 winner Amanda Brunker and Tallafornia’s Kelly Donegan.
Last year, Miss Ireland was in controversy as the original winner Marie Hughes was de-throned just three days after being crowned the title when it came to light that she was “too old” to compete at Miss World, under the terms and conditions of the pageant. Her runner-up Rebecca Maguire was therefore crowned and represent the country at Miss World 2012 pageant but did not place.
