Deborah Lyra Moura from Minas Gerais was crowned Miss Brazil 2010. Lilian Lim was crowned Miss Universe Brazil 2010.
Saturday night (May 8th) would be one of the most important landmark in life of the 20-year-old journalism student Deborah Moura Lyra. The candidate from the state of Minas Gerais ousted 26 other competitors and was crowned Miss Brazil 2010 at the Finale held at the Memorial of Latin America in Sao Paulo.
The event started with 27 candidates wearing a shirt of the Brazilian Cup, in honor of the 2010 World Cup to be held in South Africa. Shortly thereafter, some backstage videos of the competition were displayed.
In the second block, the candidates showed their traditional costumes and the judges chose the look of Deborah Lyra, candidate of Minas Gerais, as more beautiful at night. As a prize, the designer who designed her dress cashed to the tune of $ 5000.
One of the most anticipated moments of the evening was the choice of Miss Congeniality. The vote came this week in a famous teahouse in São Paulo and a video showed the justification of misses in the election of their choice. The victory was Nayane Pacheco de Souza, a representative of Sergipe. By coincidence, it closely resembles the actress Sandra Bullock, star of the film saga “Miss Congeniality.”
After the gala parade with costumes, designed by designer Arthur Caliman, the 15 semifinalists were announced. And finally the big moment of the night: the announcement of the winner. The student Deborah Moura Lyra, Minas Gerais, beat the other finalists and received the crown and full of Miss Brazil 2010.
