“I am incredibly nervous and excited at the same time. I have never traveled in my life. I have never been outside the country and now I am flying to Las Vegas,” said Nkandih. Moreover, “I am used to 2,1 million people so you can imagine how huge the cultural shock will be for me,” she said.
She received her national gift from Nakara. Her national costume and evening gown were designed by Cobus Moller. “The inspiration for the national costume comes from the Welwitschia plant which is unique to Namibia,” said Moller.
Tsakana Nkandih from Tsumeb was crowned Miss Namibia 2012 in Windhoek on August 4, 2012. The 21-year-old beauty will represent Namibia in the Miss World 2013 Pageant to be held in Indonesia and in the Miss Universe 2012 beauty pageant.
“A person always dreams of traveling and doing things but usually there are financial constraints. Now I have been given the opportunity not only to travel for the first time but also to represent my country,” said Nkandih.
