Upon being crowned as the new Miss Florida 2014, Victoria Cowen also released a statement on the pageant’s website, saying that “Finding the right words to say is difficult in a situation such as this. First, I want to send my love to Elizabeth. Throughout the week of Miss Florida we shared such a powerful bond and the light of God truly shines through her. I have no doubt that she will accomplish so many incredible things in the years to come and I know that our friendship will remain strong. We both believe God has a purpose for our lives and although he reveals that purpose in mysterious ways sometimes, HE will always remain.
I want to sincerely thank the Miss Florida organization for their high moral standards and for having the integrity to make things right no matter what the consequence. The foundation of the program rests upon honesty and I am so blessed to be a part of an organization who takes the high road instead of the easy way out.
I also want to thank everyone for the continuous support. The kind words, prayers and congratulations mean more to me than you will ever know. I am so grateful for the opportunity to represent such an amazing state and excited for the journey to come.”
